Haunted Houses are looking forward to returning to the incredible Jedburgh Jail, situated in the Scottish Borders, for a frightful night of ghost hunting and we hope you are ready for a spooky night you certainly won't forget!
This magnificent building was built in 1820 and stands on the original site of Jedburgh Castle. It closed its doors in 1886. It is also the only remaining example of a Howard Reform Prison. This incredibly imposing prison is now a museum so it recreates how the prison would have appeared when it was in use. It gives you a slight taste of how it would have been to be imprisoned here. This gives an excellent opportunity to get inside the minds of the spirits who were once kept imprisoned here.
The jail was infamous for its terrible conditions and the cruelty that was dealt out to the prisoners so expect some extreme emotions. There was also a set of gallows where prisoners would be executed on site.
We will have access to the derelict mens wing, which is usually closed to the public during daytime vists; on our previous visits this has been an area that has not disappointed for paranormal activity and has sent chills down anyone that has dared to enter.

The jail is reportedly haunted by the spirit of a dangerous prisoner called Edwin McArthur. Since his execution in 1855 he has been known to threaten members of the public causing them to be extremely fearful. You know when his spirit is around as you can sense a darkness in the atmosphere.
There have also been many reports of a phantom piper seen on the battlements. Doors banging and screams are also a common occurrence throughout the building and not only from the living! People often also report hearing footsteps and whistling, could this be from some prison officers who have returned to a job they loved!
Shadow figures are renowned around the building and are known to watch through cell doors, are they trying to entice you inside? The figures are especially active in a certain area, will you be able to tell us on the night which area this is by seeing them for yourself...
Haunted Houses look forward to welcoming you at this amazing building and sharing a night that you will not forget.
