The sinister Gresley Old Hall in Derbyshire oozes with a dark and spooky atmosphere the moment you venture up it’s staircase, with creaky floorboards, dark long forgotten rooms, and twisting staircases leading you further into it’s dark depths. This makes for a perfect eerie night of ghost hunting
The current hall has an array of floors some of which have not been touched since the 19th Century. In the top most attics Victorian graffiti can still be seen on the lime washed walls; Built of brick, this could be one of the reasons why Gresley is haunted, as bricks are known to hold onto energy as a conduit for spirit energy.
The most infamous spirit of the hall is that of a maid who burnt to death in her room whilst supervising the children. It is said that her room was bricked up after the fire. Furthermore, visitors have often reported feeling their faces burning after entering this room, will you experience this too0? On your ghost hunt with Haunted Houses you will have full access to the building during the evening. To begin with you will learn all about ghost hunting and the techniques used to encourage paranormal activity. We have a whole host of scientific ghost hunt equipment for you to use to aid communication with the spirits. You can enter into the fascinating Victorian world of Ouija boards, glass divination and table tipping – by contrast the more traditional ghost hunt techniques. Or simply sit in the dark and ask for the spirits to interact with you for example. Lone vigils (ghost hunting alone) will also be offered where available.
It is important to note that during your evening you will be split into smaller groups so you can get the most out of your experience, but we will never split you up from your family and friends. lastly, if you are new to ghost hunting we warn you now, you may just become addicted to the fascinating and intriguing world of ghost hunting by the end of the night
