Get Your Home Halloween Ready. Halloween, is just around the corner a exciting time for little ghosts and goblins as we turn our world orange and black. A favourite with those who like a bit of dress-up, the shops are already stocked full of spooky decorations, outfits and a selection of home decorations to turn your home into a haunted house.

The question is where do you start? Turning your home into a miniature haunted house is not as difficult as it sounds however, with just a few small purchases and small additions to your home you can have your own spook-tastic home.

Perfect to instill a sense of Halloween fun anywhere in your garden, whilst also lighting the way for young trick or treaters. Outdoor fairy lights are available from around £25 and come in various lengths. Orange lights are probably the best for Halloween but if you can’t get hold of orange then combining any colour with your other decorations will work just as well.

Balloons and masks

Hanging scary masks inside and outside the house can really set the mood and hanging a few masks on your front door is a great way to let potential trick-or-treaters know you’re expecting them. Tying balloons to the front gate, if you have one, is also a clear signal that you’re up for sharing in the Halloween good cheer.

The Jack-o-Lantern is arguably the most iconic of all the Halloween decorations and no house is complete without at least one on the 31st of October. The origin of the Jack-o-lantern comes from an Irish myth about Stingy Jack, who tricked the Devil for his own monetary gain. When Jack died, God didn’t allow him into heaven, and the Devil didn’t let him into hell, so Jack was sentenced to roam the earth for eternity.

Once the tradition hit the United States, Irish immigrants soon realised that the pumpkin, native to the states, was an ideal fruit for carving. That’s why you see jack-o’-lanterns on porches around Halloween.

No matter what design you go for however, fire safety should always be on your mind and there are plenty of alternatives to candles when it comes to lighting your lanterns, including:
