Reported Ghosts

The museum is now home to many old fire engines and police memorabilia so it is no surprise with so many artifacts that some spirits may still be attached to them.

The most famous spirit residing at this interesting haunted place, is that of a former prisoner called Cain. It has been known on ghost hunts that Cain usually enjoys communicating with the living, but he is known to have a more sinister side. On many occasions he has been known to throw the glass and break it during glass divination experiments. He is renowned for making his presence felt – especially to women! He makes it quite obvious he resents anyone daring to enter his cell. There are also the reports of a spirit which has quite an evil streak, who has been spotted lurking in recent years sending chills through the visitors and staff alike.

Venue History

The building originally opened in the 1900’s as a purpose built fire station, and was one of the first in the country. At a later date a police station was added to the building including it’s own holding cells and work rooms.

During the World War the cellars of the building were used as air raid shelters. Today, the building is home to the National Emergency Services Museum and is open to the public.
