Ghost hunting at Caldicot Castle will not be for the faint hearted. Sitting in the County of Monmouthshire, South Wales. Caldicot’s tall ancient towers loom, reaching high into the dark night’s sky. Originally built in 1086 by Norman Conquerors as a fortification, This location has been besieged with history and has had many murders, and ghost stories within it’s walls.

Your ghost hunt at Caldicot Castle, South Wales will see you exploring this ancient location in the dark when all day visitors have gone to bed. On your ghost hunt you will be able to experience glass divination, table tipping and a group human pendulum experiment. Plus, for those comfortable enough Ouija boards will also be available for you to use. All to aid your communication with the dead.

You will also have a whole host of the most up-to-date ghost hunting gadgets to use whilst you carry out your ghost hunt. Taking part in spirit callouts, inviting spirits to interact with the environment that is being measured by the equipment, then wait and see what happens.

Haunted Houses Events likes to work in small teams to give you the very best experience possible. For the very, very brave – lone vigils (ghost hunting in a room all alone) are very popular and opportunities to do so will be given.

Reported Ghosts

Sadly, we can’t permit dogs to attend the ghost hunt here – but it has been reported that our four-legged friends take on a peculiar behaviour in some parts of the castle. What could make them refuse to enter some areas; what are they sensing to frighten them so much?

In recent times hooded figure have been seen to move around this medieval Castle, said to be monks dressed in brown robes. Will you yourself encounter these religious spirits roaming the corridors at night?

In the unique circular tower to the West of the keep you will find a cellar. People have reported icy blasts whilst standing close to the dungeon which is a dark hole in the ground. Screams of anguish and ghostly footsteps walking along the cobbles are reported here.
A grey lady has been seen within the castle keep, will you be privileged enough to encounter her?

A great sense of being watched is rife, and distant chattering is heard from rooms that stops as you enter! Some have even reported to of been touched by unseen hands!

Venue History

Sitting in the County of Monmouthshire, South Wales, towers the ancient castle known as Caldicot. Originally built in 1086 by Norman Conquerors as a fortification, it developed into a great Castle over the next 300 years to become one of Wales most magnificent medieval Castles.

The Castle became home to the Bohun Family for over eight generations until it came into ownership of the third son of King Edward III, Thomas of Woodstock when he became married to Alianore de Bohun. On Edwards’s death the thrown was passed to Thomas’s grandson King Richard II. During the years Thomas acted as advisor to the young king until finally their relationship broke down and King Richard II had Thomas Murdered and property, including Caldicot Castle, passed over to the crown in 1376.

  • Working respectfully. Start your evening by learning how to apply spiritual protection, and work using the upmost respect for the sprits we encounter and fellow guests
  • All attendees must be 18 years or older
  • Not suitable for those in pregnancy
  • This is a very dark location, all attendees must bring a torch with them
