Reported Ghosts

Tales of the past are abound here in this medieval Castle – ghostly hooded figures said to roam the corridors and icy blasts experienced within the dungeon located in the unique circular tower to the West. People claim to hear screams of anguish and ghostly footsteps as they traverse this haunted locale. Furthermore, sightings of a grey lady, an all-encompassing feeling of being watched, and distant chatter in rooms have been reported. Do you have the courage to visit and explore this foreboding place and possibly make contact with these apparitions from the past? Sadly, pet dogs aren’t allowed, but some believe they sense something here, leaving them refusing to enter some areas of the castle. Could you unravel the mystery and determine what frightens them so?

Venue History

Standing proud in the County of Monmouthshire, South Wales, is Caldicot Castle, an ancient stronghold of awe-inspiring proportions. Its story dates back to 1086 when it was constructed by Norman Conquerors to protect the local people. It underwent centuries of upgrades to reach the height of its former glory and it was taken over by the Bohun family for more than eight generations. In 1376 it passed over to the crown after King Richard II had his grandfather Thomas of Woodstock – who served as advisor to the young king until their relationship fell apart – murdered and his property was seized. To this day, Caldicot Castle is an awe-inspiring reminder of our past, one to be appreciated for many more years to come.
