Built in 1879 as an Orphanage to the Liverpool children who lost their parents at the Sea, a sanatorium was then erected on the site within the same walls – before finally turning into Newsham Park Hospital in 1954 for the NHS. Your Event
On a ghost hunt here with Haunted Houses you will have exclusive access to the building/location during the evening. You will learn all about ghost hunting and the techniques used to encourage paranormal activity. We have a whole host of scientific ghost hunt equipment for you to use to aid communication with the spirits. You can take part in Ouija boards, glass divination and table tipping; the more traditional ghost hunt techniques. Or simply sitting in the dark and asking for the spirits to interact with you. Lone vigils (ghost hunting alone) will also be offered where available. During your evening you will be split into smaller groups so you can get the most out of your experience. If you are new to ghost hunting we warn you now – by the end of the night you may just become addicted to the fascinating and intriguing world of ghost hunting.

Reported Ghosts
Reported sightings of ghosts include that of a small child on the top floor corridor and shadowy figures on Ward G. Visitors to the basements have reported an uneasy feeling and dragging noises have been heard from the Dining Room while nobody is there.
There have been reports of a dark and sinsiter entity known to follow people around the building.
Venue History
Newsham Park Hospital in Liverpool, also known as The Royal Liverpool Seamen’s Orphanage, was built in 1876 as a children’s orphanage by Britain’s greatest shipping lines (including the White Star Line that operated the Titanic).
During the second World War the orphans were evacuated to Wales and the building became a military hospital for the duration. In 1954 it became a General Hospital with a A & E and Psychiatric Units. In 1992 Margaret Thatcher closed ‘Rainhill’, the worlds largest mental Asylum and the Royal Liverpool Seamen’s Orphanage was emptied of staff and patients and replaced with the patients and staff from Rainhill to become an asylum. Until its closure in 1997 the entire site was said to of housed the UK’s most mentally and criminally insane patients, complete with a padded rooms.

- Working respectfully. Start your evening by learning how to apply spiritual protection, and work using the upmost respect for the sprits we encounter and fellow guests
- All attendees must be 16 years or older
- Not suitable for those in pregnancy
- This is a very dark location, all attendees must bring a torch with them
- All attendees are expected to wear sensible shoes and warm layered clothing
- This location has free parking. A private car park is to the rear of the building
