Newsham Park, formerly an Orphanage turned mental hospital lay witness to many poor tortured souls, whom some say still dwell within the walls making this location an epicentre of paranormal activity in the region. This location really sorts out the men from the mice and has seen many flee in terror, with their frightful cries echoing from the dark depths of this immense building.

This location is one of the most sought after locations today and comes with a very fearsome reputation.

Reported Ghosts

Reported sightings of ghosts include that of a small child on the top floor corridor and shadowy figures on Ward G. Visitors to the basements have reported an uneasy feeling and dragging noises have been heard from the Dining Room while nobody is there.

There have been reports of a dark and sinsiter entity known to follow certain people around the building.

Venue History

Newsham Park Hospital in Liverpool, also known as The Royal Liverpool Seamen’s Orphanage, was built in 1876 as a children’s orphanage by Britain’s greatest shipping lines (including the White Star Line that operated the Titanic).

During the second World War the orphans were evacuated to Wales and the building became a military hospital for the duration. In 1954 it became a General Hospital with a A & E and Psychiatric Units. In 1992 Margaret Thatcher closed ‘Rainhill’, the worlds largest mental Asylum and the Royal Liverpool Seamen’s Orphanage was emptied of staff and patients and replaced with the patients and staff from Rainhill to become an asylum. Until its closure in 1997 the entire site housed the worlds most mentally and criminally insane patients, complete with a padded room.

  • Learn about various ghost hunting techniques and try them out for yourself on your investigation or share any knowledge you already possess to aid the investigation
  • Discover more about the high-tech ghost hunting gadgets. Many as seen on T.V, hold them in your hands and freely use them
  • Take part! Help to lead a scientific vigil, or perhaps a more traditional ghost hunting experiment- or simply just be an observer. The choice is yours
  • Working respectfully. Start your evening by learning how to apply spiritual protection, and work using the upmost respect for the sprits we encounter and fellow guests
  • Lone vigils (ghost hunting in an area all alone) can be made available for the brave
  • All attendees must be 18 years or older
  • Not suitable for those in pregnancy
  • This is a very dark location, all attendees must bring a torch with them
  • All attendees are expected to wear sensible shoes and warm layered clothing
  • This location has free parking. A private car park is to the rear of the building
  • Refreshments are provided by Haunted Houses Events and are included in the price
  • Guests may also bring own personal breaktime snacks
