Your night will be a real Ghost Hunt. This is not a tour of the building with ghost stories and history. You will be exploring the house to witness real paranormal activity. Find out how below…

For those who want to also try their hand and ghost hunt with real ghost hunting gadgets. Taking part in spirit call-outs in pitch black rooms is affective and very popular. Your own senses will be your primary tool as we encourage the spirits to link in with us . You will continue to be part of the investigation where you can call out to spirit, asking them for knocks, bangs and whistles, and then we shall wait in silence and darkness to see if you get any responses back. maybe you will feel temperature changes, or even be touched by unseen hands?

Reported Ghosts

Wymering Manor is Portsmouth’s oldest buildings, and is reputed to be it’s most haunted. The site is said to of been occupied for over two millennia

Over the years, many ghostly sightings and paranormal activities have been reported within the grounds and house. With ghostly whispers, to feelings of dread that then give way to intense emotions. Which some say centres around a staircase and attic rooms. With previous links to the church. A ghostly Nun is seen looking down the attic staircase. Wailing and holding out her open and bloody hands. It is said her energy still haunts these walls through intense emotion, brought on by abortions and discreet burials within the grounds – following illicit relations between priests and nuns who dwelled onsite.

The Jacobean staircases are said to be rife with ghostly activity. Feelings of suspense and dread are said to be common, then moments later a silent and slow moving shadow is witnessed, coming down the stairs into the main hall.

Venue History

Wymering Manor is a large grade two listed building located close to the City centre of Portsmouth, Hampshire, UK. It was given it’s Grade two status in 2003.

Much of what you will see is unchanged from it’s 16th Century heyday. Within it’s large hall your eyes are brought instantly to twin Jacobean staircases decorated with barley sugar twist bolsters in dark varnished wood, panelled walls, and supporting pilasters giving a strong essence of Elizabethan and Tudor design.

A roman settlement is nearby and the house itself sits on the location of an earlier building dating back all the way to 1042. Although most of the building you will see today is 16th Century, parts of Wymering Manor still contain parts of Medieval, and even Roman sections which are evident within the structure. Beneath the house the cellars have solid walls. It is documented that these cellars themselves are actually Saxon in origin. Archology of the footings do imply that a Roman building did indeed once stand on this site, which gives the land now hosting Wymering Manor a long human history, so any hauntings from the land have now been brought into this house.

The house can claim two priest holes. one of which is said to include a now long hidden passage which leads to the local church.
