Your Event

On a ghost hunt with Haunted Houses you will have exclusive access to the building/location during the evening. You will learn all about ghost hunting and the techniques used to encourage paranormal activity. We have a whole host of scientific ghost hunt equipment for you to use to aid communication with the spirits. You can take part in Ouija boards, glass divination and table tipping; the more traditional ghost hunt techniques. Or simply sitting in the dark and asking for the spirits to interact with you. Lone vigils (ghost hunting alone) will also be offered where available. During your evening you will be split into smaller groups so you can get the most out of your experience. If you are new to ghost hunting we warn you now – by the end of the night you may just become addicted to the fascinating and intriguing world of ghost hunting.

Reported Ghosts

Haunted Houses Events have investigated Walton Hall many times over the years and each visit gives us a similar encounter. An Angry male figure is known to wander the corridors and rooms of the upper level and is said to be seen in shadow form.

Many have reported feeling his heavy presence and make no secret of being made to feel unwelcome. more than once ghost hunters have reported the feelings of their throat tightening – letting you know he is near. This spirit makes it clear to all you are not at all welcome!

The spirit of a young girl is said to creep around the building holding hands with those who she feels can protect her, for this spirit is looking for a mother figure and has been known to cause people to break down in tears each time we have visited, this spirit can pass on her emotions very strongly.

Walton Hall is great for physical experiments such as table tipping, glass divination and Ouija boards, and provides such amazing results.

Venue History

Walton Hall is a remnant of a much larger county estate, purchased in 1812 by the Greenall family, famous for their brewing industry. The hall was built in Elizabethan-style during 1836, designed by Edmund Sharpe of Lancaster who later became famous for the Gothic revival in Victorian architecture.

During the 1870s various extensions were completed, including the clocktower and a large Gothic-style wing. Unfortunately, when the building was refurbished some one hundred years later, certain sections were considered beyond repair and demolished, leaving only the east wing and clocktower. It will be down to you to discover who has remained at Walton Hall after these changes!

Walton Hall was used as the filming location in 2014 for BBC One’s “Our Zoo” Chosen for it beautiful, yet spooky design. Walton Hall certainly looks the part and certainly has the look of a haunted house.
